Citizenship Fee Ticked Up Again This Year — Small Change, Still Worth Knowing

Under the Service Fees Act, certain IRCC fees get indexed to inflation annually, and the Right of Citizenship fee is one of them. As of March 31, 2026, it rose from $119.75 to $123.00.

The adult citizenship grant application processing fee did not change, it's still $530.00. So for an adult applicant, the combined cost of applying for citizenship now works out to roughly $653.00 total, the processing fee plus the Right of Citizenship fee.

This is a small adjustment compared to some of the other fee changes we've covered this year, but I still think it's worth tracking for one reason: these annual, inflation-based increases are quiet and easy to miss, and if you're budgeting for a citizenship application months in advance, a few dollars of drift is harmless, but not knowing the current total isn't a great position to be filing from. Applications received on or after March 31, 2026 are subject to the new amount.

If you're putting together a citizenship application and want the current fee schedule confirmed alongside your eligibility, our Services page covers citizenship applications, or you can reach out through Contact.
